Van Staal X-Series Line Lay – The new and improved Van Staal X-Series “X-Wrap Oscillation System” offers anglers the next level in Van Staal line lay. Van Staal redesigned their traverse guide (circular photo shows the new “S” style) to optimize and perfect the line lay. Van Staal’s straight channel traverse guide (found in original VS reels) was the culprit for their infamous crossed up hour glass line lay. This was (and still can be) combated by filling your reel spool on a line machine with a hump in the middle. Once fished it tends to some what level out. Van Staal wasn’t happy and demanded the best. Van Staal engineers spent some time and solved the issue, now introduced the X-Series featuring a new “S” channel traverse guide. This new superior oscillation and line lay improves casting distance by reducing line friction.

The Van Staal X-Series Reels are based on the same foundation that made Van Staal legendary for power and durability.  A completely sealed and waterproof reel machined out of aeronautics grade 6061-T6 aluminum, with a solid titanium shaft, hardened stainless steel main gear and pinion, and patented waterproof sealed drag.  The Van Staal VS and VSB Reels are designed for a lifetime of fishing.  The New X-Series reels now have the X-Wrap oscillation system that lays the line completely flat, designed to cast further and allow for greater drag pressures when using braided line.  The drag system has also been improved allowing for greater drag range.
