The Van Staal X-Series Reels are based on the same foundation that made Van Staal legendary for power and durability. A completely sealed and waterproof reel machined out of aeronautics grade 6061-T6 aluminum, with a solid titanium shaft, hardened stainless steel main gear and pinion, and patented waterproof sealed drag. The Van Staal VS and VSB Reels are designed for a lifetime of fishing. The New X-Series reels now have the X-Wrap oscillation system that lays the line completely flat, designed to cast further and allow for greater drag pressures when using braided line. The drag system has also been improved allowing for greater drag range.
Proven for the surf, these reels are ready for any situation. A completely sealed, water-proof body and drag allow you to fish on the beach or in the water. Van Staal reels have a fully machined aluminum body, flyer and spool for no-flex strength; a machined stainless steel spiral-bevel main gear for long-lasting power. A machined solid titanium, titanium nitride treated center shaft and titanium-nitride line roller allow you to fish monofilament or braided lines under the heaviest of drag loads. With huge line capacities and the ability to pick-up to 40 inches of line with a single handle turn, there is no better reel to fish tough, big fish in-shore or off-shore.

Huge, machined stainless steel spiral-bevel gears are used in all Van Staal spin reels. Individually cut out of hardened stainless steel, their design creates tremendous gear tooth contact between the main gear and the pinion. No gear works better under load.
